Book Card Part two ......

Once i mastered the book card box, i realise how simple it was to adapt onto the idea and make of different sizes and thicknesses. I recently purchased some papers and stamps from Stamping' Up from Kelly over at The Crafty Bat and these stunning colours really made an amazing book card.

The beautiful dark teal purple and gold are just a gorgeous combination. I added some mulberry paper flowers and gold ribbon to close. This card measures 5x7 inches.

I made some tags with the Stampin' Up tag punch and used the gold stickers that came with the stamps to create the pattern inside the book.

Stampin' up have great inches and dies i do recommend them as they are really easy to use as a punch even if you aren't the strongest!

You can find them all at -:

He will be my squishy.....

Have you seen finding Nemo?? This beautiful paper by 49 and market reminds me of the jelly fish from this film. they looks such beautiful creatures.

To make this journal i simply covered an A5 book. Its quite a thick book so takes more than one sheet of a4 paper to cover of most of a 12x12 sheet. I always start with a plain piece to cover the base. I prefer bazzill mono card it has a coloured core and is textured on one side.

After i have cover the book, I bought the edges up. I do this with some scissors by scrapping them down one edge. There are tools out there for doing this but i find the scissors work just fine.

i cover the book with the 49 and market sand ands collection papers. tearing and making tags with some left over string as a cord for the tags. all added a doily and some tulle to the ripped edged.

Lastly i added the paper flowers and some jewels - the message at the top reads nothing but blue skies.

Journals are fabulous things, you can write to someone special, you can write to yourself. or you can keep a diary. They can capture your thoughts and save them another time, for you to read back and remember not only images but thoughts and feelings that happen at any given time. I have kept journals for most of my life. Its a great mental help. And reminds you of what not to do sometimes!

same technic used here but with some added cranked seam binding.

Mini Keepsake Album. With under July Pickle Pack.

I was asked by a lovely friend to make a Keepsake album, not so much for lots of photos but with lots of pockets for things to me kept inside.

I hadn't made anything like this before and i was honoured to be asked to make something so special.

The Sea and Sand collection by 49 and market were i perfect paper for making such an album. they are a very heavy weight cardstock, therefore great for making pockets and staying secure once folded and scored.

I decorated the front with mulberry paper flowers and sea glass. The closure was held to gather with a magnet. I just love the jelly fish on these papers. Kinda reminds me of finding nemo!

I left the inside fairly plain with room for keepsakes some photos and plenty of room for journalling. i used some bo bunny 'down by the sea' and some bazzill texture card for the inside. I used a martha stewart edge punch to create the edging patterns. I then used the We r Memory keepers envelop punch board to make a few envelopes on the back pages.

Usually i would embellish a lot more on the inside but this was asked to stay a plainer contents. I think overall this was a great idea because the papers are really beautiful and it allows them to be shown off to their potential.

Thanks for reading and happy crafting pickles!!

Altered Hoop, Mermaid Style.

It's been all about 'under the sea' for this month. Inspired not only by the beautiful papers from bo bunny and 49and market. But also the the textures of shells and hessian, with tulle and seam binding.

  • This 9" altered wooden hoop was made with a piece of scrap material stretch around the hoop as if ready to sew onto it.
  • Then i painted it with a light white gesso. next adding some Platinum crackle paint and finally stamped blue script with some moments inks.
  • The papers were scraps cut off from a previous make. Using up even the part you think you maybe don't need!
  • I added some wooden leaves and mulberry paper flowers and even some pieces from some old costume jewellery that i had cut up! I was honestly never gonna wear that 80's jewellery again! lol
  • The quote in the middle i designed and printed on to some acetate to add as an over lay
  • I filled a very small bottle with Stickles gold glitter glue and glued up the cork so it wont leak.
  • Finally adding my mermaid from scrapineic.

These are pretty quick to make once the initial hoop is painted and stamped. I find letting the layers dry naturally works much better than using a heat gun but if you wish to hurry the process up then once the products are touch dry then they are usually ok to heat from a distance - please always check manufacturers advice though.

Thats all for now
