He will be my squishy.....

Have you seen finding Nemo?? This beautiful paper by 49 and market reminds me of the jelly fish from this film. they looks such beautiful creatures.

To make this journal i simply covered an A5 book. Its quite a thick book so takes more than one sheet of a4 paper to cover of most of a 12x12 sheet. I always start with a plain piece to cover the base. I prefer bazzill mono card it has a coloured core and is textured on one side.

After i have cover the book, I bought the edges up. I do this with some scissors by scrapping them down one edge. There are tools out there for doing this but i find the scissors work just fine.

i cover the book with the 49 and market sand ands collection papers. tearing and making tags with some left over string as a cord for the tags. all added a doily and some tulle to the ripped edged.

Lastly i added the paper flowers and some jewels - the message at the top reads nothing but blue skies.

Journals are fabulous things, you can write to someone special, you can write to yourself. or you can keep a diary. They can capture your thoughts and save them another time, for you to read back and remember not only images but thoughts and feelings that happen at any given time. I have kept journals for most of my life. Its a great mental help. And reminds you of what not to do sometimes!

same technic used here but with some added cranked seam binding.

Altered Hoop, Mermaid Style.

It's been all about 'under the sea' for this month. Inspired not only by the beautiful papers from bo bunny and 49and market. But also the the textures of shells and hessian, with tulle and seam binding.

  • This 9" altered wooden hoop was made with a piece of scrap material stretch around the hoop as if ready to sew onto it.
  • Then i painted it with a light white gesso. next adding some Platinum crackle paint and finally stamped blue script with some moments inks.
  • The papers were scraps cut off from a previous make. Using up even the part you think you maybe don't need!
  • I added some wooden leaves and mulberry paper flowers and even some pieces from some old costume jewellery that i had cut up! I was honestly never gonna wear that 80's jewellery again! lol
  • The quote in the middle i designed and printed on to some acetate to add as an over lay
  • I filled a very small bottle with Stickles gold glitter glue and glued up the cork so it wont leak.
  • Finally adding my mermaid from scrapineic.

These are pretty quick to make once the initial hoop is painted and stamped. I find letting the layers dry naturally works much better than using a heat gun but if you wish to hurry the process up then once the products are touch dry then they are usually ok to heat from a distance - please always check manufacturers advice though.

Thats all for now
